The house was built with no fuss, no disagreements, and no major misunderstandings. Sam was very flexible. He said before he got the contract, and after he quoted, "I've already built this house in my mind". He then set about doing that. We are delighted with our light filled, warm new home built for us by Fleetwood Construction, and the way the build was conducted by Sam, Charlotte and the Fleetwood team. Building a house was a new experience for us and we were apprehensive about the process and what was involved. We needn’t have worried. From the start Sam and Charlotte were a pleasure to deal with. We had excellent communication and regular meetings with Sam throughout the build which meant we were always up to speed with progress and any issues that came up. Sam also provided us with a useful timeline which meant that we knew well in advance when we needed to make key decisions about interior details. As a result, we never felt pressured. Throughout the build we also really appreciated Sam’s calm and measured approach including when he was solving any problems that arose. Sam’s understanding of all elements of the build and his attention to detail was excellent, as was his oversight of the work and the subcontractors. The invoices sent by Charlotte were clear and accurate and acknowledgement of our progress payments was always prompt. The Fleetwood builders on site were also great to get on with. Steve and the others in the team always made us feel welcome when we went on site and took time to answer our questions. Their workmanship was first class and this is reflected in the quality of the finish they achieved. We also appreciated the way the site was kept tidy and how the team tried to minimise disruption to our neighbours. We are very grateful to Sam, Charlotte and the Fleetwood team for building us a beautiful house that we thoroughly enjoy and for making it such a positive experience. We highly recommend them.

From our first meeting with Sam and Charlotte we were impressed. We had met with 3 other companies in the search for our builder. It quickly became obvious Fleetwood Construction were at the top of their game and would be the company we would entrust to build our ‘dream home’. Sam was already carefully studying the Sheppard and Rout prepared plans, as we discussed the many aspects of starting an architectural build on what was a very challenging hillside. As we wanted to feel part of the project at every stage, great communication between ourselves and our builder was a critical factor. The welcoming and reasuring nature of Sam and Charlotte made this relationship a perfect match. Building started on time and progressed as per Sam’s scheduled timeline with site meetings every two weeks. Progress was explained and the upcoming weeks’ work was outlined in detail. We asked lots of questions and the deeper we got into the build the more impressed we became with Sam’s attention to detail when we probed for information. The Fleetwood Team was on site every day of the build, even during the latter stages where contractors were putting finishing touches to the project. The ‘boys’ were awesome and they always made us feel welcome when we simply couldn’t stay away. The Team displayed obvious pride in their workmanship, they kept the site tidy and were always happy to discuss where they were at and what was coming up next. It was obvious that they worked hard and at the same time enjoyed what they were doing. The house was completed on time and with only a few small variations along the way. This we credit to Sam’s meticulous planning prior to starting the project. Their invoicing, communication and documentation was top notch. It gave us much pleasure when we learned that Sam and Charlotte had been awarded a Gold Reserve for our house at the Master Builders House of the Year 2019 Awards as reward for their excellent standard of workmanship. We give Fleetwood Construction our highest recommendation as a most professional and competent company and we thank Sam, Charlotte and the Fleetwood Team for having made the creation of our dream house such a great experience.

We have really enjoyed working with Sam and Charlotte on a number of our projects, their team is always approachable, polite and tidy! Their tender process was very realistic and accurate, they were able to work with us to solve any problems that inevitably arise when completing a big renovation, together we were able to achieve our objectives and they helped us to work within our budget and timeframes. After reaching a settlement with our insurance company in 2013, we engaged a builder to undertake the required repairs to our home. Unfortunately thecompany we engaged later withdrew stating the repairs were too complicated for them to complete. So we were delighted when Fleetwood Construction Ltd was recommended to us and Sam was willing to undertake the job. From the outset we were impressed with Sam’s positive approach. He took an active interest in the project right from the start and was happy to engage in whatever discussion or investigation was needed to arrive at the best solution and achieve the best outcome. The repairs required creative and innovative solutions. They were complicated by the difficult access to the house, the steep driveway and the concrete construction of the house. Sam saw these difficulties and other issues that arose as interesting challenges to be solved rather than frustrating problems. We were impressed with all aspects of his work. He made sure that everything was done properly and that the workmanship was thorough at all stages of the process. He also made sure the solutions were functional and the overall effect was aesthetically pleasing. For example, few people could envisage how the cracks in the polished concrete floors could be repaired yet the end result was a great finish. He listened to our perspectives and our needs as the clients always responding calmly and in a supportive manner. His communication was good and he was efficient and well organized. His project management was excellent. He used very good sub contractors who also completed their work to a high standard. We were living in the North Island when repairs were being done but were delighted to visit the house and see each part being completed so well. The good working relationship between Sam and the insurance company was another factor that helped make our repair process such a good experience. The positive approach and effective communication maintained by all parties were very significant in helping us to achieve a great outcome. We feel very fortunate to have had Sam and his team undertake our repairs and that our experience was so positive compared to many other home owners in Christchurch.

Sam and Fleetwood Construction, built a very exciting and wonderful freestanding townhouse, for my late husband and me, in the inner city and we were very delighted with the result. The attention to design, planning and preparation was excellent. The building site was a particularly small site but with Sam’s perseverance we had plans drawn up for a three bedroom, two bathroom, townhouse with great living, dining and kitchen areas. The courtyard was small, though we did often entertain in the courtyard with our extended family, but as it was a town base for us, it did mean it was easy to lock up and leave. The building process was smooth and efficient with very good communication at all times. Sam pays great attention to all detail and all the finishing touches were superb. We were thrilled to have a very special townhouse, would recommend Sam very highly to anyone planning to build or renovate, and look forward to another special project in the future.

We engaged Fleetwood Construction (FC) for both our EQC opt-out work repairs and additional renovations for our house in St. Albans. We have found FC easy to deal with throughout the whole process from quoting, amendments, work completion and council sign off. Nothing was a problem and general communication between FC and ourselves was always prompt and courteous. Levels of workmanship have been to a high standard from both FC builders and any subcontractors they managed on our behalf as part of the job. Any feedback or issues we had throughout or after the job completion were dealt with swiftly and in a timely manner. Thank you for such a good job – we love our new house!

I have known Sam Fleetwood for over ten years. He was recommended to me when I was about to embark on a building project with a friend (two town houses) who lived overseas which meant that I would be the one left to manage the process. It was important that we had a builder who was reliable, honest, easy to work with and knew what he was doing. At the time we considered Sam to be rather young to take on this project however he appeared to be organized an provided us with a detailed project analysis showing the stages of construction and a time line so we decided to employ him to carry out the work. Sam proved to be more than equal to the task, he was efficient, reliable and had excellent standards of workmanship. Importantly for me, he was able to offer helpful and sensible advice when there were decisions to be made where I was unsure, such as using the thicker (more expensive) gib between floors to reduce noise levels. It was this ability to listen to what was important to us and then advise/work accordingly that particularly impressed me. Sam was paid an hourly rate and we considered his invoicing to be fair and reasonable, we were both extremely happy with the work carried ou by Sam and his team. Since this project Sam has carried out significant further work for us as well as significant renovation work for my parents, brother and friend. They have all been very happy with his work. I will continue to use Sam for further building work that I will be carrying out and quite unreservedly recommend him for any building project.
